Overview
As Senior Loss Prevention Counsel, Melissa Mickey advises lawyers and law firms on legal ethics, professional responsibility and risk management.
Melissa started her ALAS career in the Claims Department, where she served as Knowledge Manager. In that role, she monitored legal developments, collated legal precedents, and created standardized forms for defense counsel. Melissa also coauthored the Schadenfreude Diaries newsletter, a publication she continues to draft and edit in her current role.
Before joining ALAS, Melissa served as a law clerk for the Honorable Ellen Carroll, a former bankruptcy judge with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. She also worked in the bankruptcy groups at Reed Smith LLP and Loeb & Loeb LLP, both in Chicago.
Melissa has two young children who keep her on her toes. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and traveling.
