Maryanne Woo is Senior Counsel in ALAS’s Member Services Department. Maryanne focuses her work on new business acquisition and retention efforts through renewal and new firm underwriting.
Maryanne helps members navigate insurance coverage inquiries related to ALAS’s LPL and MLI/EPLI policies and related issues arising from member firm operations. This includes addressing issues related to merger transactions, lateral hiring, and firm and practice area expansion. She also works closely with attorneys from other ALAS departments to facilitate loss prevention programming and other member support issues.
Prior to joining ALAS in 2025, Maryanne started the Chicago office for Omni Bridgeway, a leading global litigation finance company, where she evaluated and underwrote litigation risk. She was also a litigation partner at Reed Smith LLP for over 20 years, where she specialized in product liability defense, including first chairing trials. At Reed Smith, Maryanne was the Deputy Chair for one of the firm’s commercial litigation groups and served on the Recruiting Committee and Associate Evaluation Committee.
Outside of the office, Maryanne enjoys spending time with her family, working on her tennis game, and finishing the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle.
